Yesenia Diaz graduated from George Mason University in Northern Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration of Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. During her time as an undergraduate, she held the position of research assistant in multiple undergoing studies that range from children’s learning behaviors to young adults in detention centers. She completed an Honor Thesis regarding The Influence of Diet, Sleep, Stress, and Hope on College Students’ Distress and Well-Being.
After graduating, Yesenia went on to be employed with Gateway Homes Inc., a residential facility that houses individuals with severe mental health concerns with primary diagnosis ranging from schizoaffective disorder and depressive disorders. During this time, her duties involved psychoeducation, crisis interventions, treatment planning, and skill building groups.
Yesenia also completed her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in D.C. Yesenia worked as a counseling intern for Prince William Family Counseling, providing individual talk therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. She also conducted family and group therapy regarding coping skills, anger management skills, and ADHD behaviors.
During her graduate program, Yesenia was able to complete case conceptualizations and present in front of faculty chairmen regarding her clients that presented concerns revolving around anxiety, depression, trauma, paranoia, and excessive worrying. Yesenia has experiences in reality-based therapy, strength-based therapy, and goal-oriented approaches both in person and online.
