Rhonda Smith graduated from Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2020. Through her graduate program, Rhonda was a counseling intern at R3 Counseling Center in Cary, NC where she worked with adults with Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, PTSD and those struggling with depression, trauma, grief and conflicts of faith. She has also worked with children and adolescents struggling with ADHD, peer bullying, and behavioral issues at school and at home.
Rhonda is an LPC Resident in Counseling with 2 years of experience working in mental health. She specializes in depression, grief, low self-esteem, anxiety, and conflicts of faith. She is passionate about mental health and sees the growing necessity to help children, adolescents, and adults overcome their challenges and struggles by providing education and support to clients and their families as needed.
Rhonda utilizes an integrative approach most frequently to meet the needs of her clients. She has used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the primary modality. She believes that challenging and changing disruptive thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes in addition to behaviors helps to improve one’s ability to regulate emotions and develop healthy coping strategies. She believes every client has the capacity within him/herself to move forward in a direction of growth, wholeness and psychological well-being. When requested by the client, Rhonda offers faith-based clinical mental health therapy services seeking to integrate Christian principles into the process of resolving personal issues, restoring hope, and transforming lives from a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach, allowing for a holistic view of each individual client.
Rhonda has been an Ordained Minister with the Church of God in Cleveland, TN since May 2014. She has served in leadership for both Children’s and Youth Ministry programs within the Church of God. Rhonda is also a Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach with the American Association of Christian Counselors. Rhonda is caring, encouraging, and empathetic and desires to use her skills and abilities to help her clients overcome their struggles and reach their greatest potential.
