Marwah Bani-Hani is an LPC-Resident in Counseling and holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, along with a Graduate Certificate in Counseling: Contemporary Theory in Mental Health Services. Through her experience, she has earned licensure as a Qualified Mental Health Professional for adults (QMHP-A) through the Virginia Department of Health. My formal education has prepared me to counsel individuals, couples, groups, parents, families, and children.
Marwah is bilingual in Arabic, allowing her to effectively connect with and serve a diverse client base, including Arabic-speaking individuals. This linguistic skill enhances her ability to reach and support clients from different cultural backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive and accessible therapeutic environment.
Marwah’s theoretical orientation is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which holds that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are deeply interconnected. She believes by identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns, we can create meaningful and lasting changes in how we think, feel, and behave. Her approach emphasizes that individuals are capable of learning new ways to manage distress and improve their quality of life, regardless of past experiences. CBT is a collaborative, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on the present, addressing the “here and now” challenges. She will work with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to emotional difficulties. Together, we explore how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors, and together develop practical tools and strategies to break these cycles, ultimately fostering personal growth and resilience.
Marwah believes in empowering her clients to take an active role in their therapeutic journey. Using structured techniques, such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and mindfulness practices, She help’s clients build coping strategies that are tailored to their unique situations. Her goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore their feelings, understand the root causes of their struggles, and develop new ways to approach life’s challenges with confidence.
Ultimately, Marwah’s philosophy is based on the belief that everyone has the potential to change, and with the right support, they can lead a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.
